Math Bits is a project focused on teaching and learning mathematics in middle school. It is based on research in mathematics education and learning sciences. The project was developed by a team of renowned researchers in these fields, along with teachers and educational technology developers.
Math Bits units include all the elements of a constructivist learning process based on the 5E model. These units combine activities that activate prior knowledge and help build understanding, along with opportunities for systematic practice, supported by generative feedback.
The Math Bits units are organized according to the 5E teaching model, which consists of five types of activities that, when combined, foster understanding-based learning. This approach leads to lasting, functional, and transferable knowledge while increasing students’ interest in math.
Math Bits has partnered with the Math Bits Chair of Mathematics Education at the University of Zaragoza, which is composed of an interdisciplinary team of renowned researchers in mathematics education and learning sciences, teachers, and educational technology developers.
